Introduction! After living near the workplace, in Zhoucun Administrative District, (which is a village attached to Lishui Town, Foshan City) for a few years, in 2003 we decided that it was time to have a place of our own. Then we started to search for a suitable area to buy a home. We started in June, dedicating our free time for the research of all real estate developments that we thought we could afford, and even some we could not. There were lots of things to consider. The house in Zhoucun was small and primitive and so was the location. However, it was a mere 3 minutes walk to the office. That guaranteed a longer sleep time in the morning. One could get up a little past 7, shower, take your time dressing, watch the 7:30 news and still be with plenty of time in the office. We used to feel bad about all the people jumping to bed early and running to the street to catch the company van from the city. But in the other hand, the village was getting more and more outsiders looking for work. It last its identity. From a friendly Cantonese place it became a mix of immigrants from other provinces that were not friendly anymore. And the effect started to show in the services available in the place. From a couple of semi decent restaurants added to half a dozen little food shops, we used to have plenty of easy, cheap and good eating. The immigrants could not afford and whoever could afford did not eat around there anymore. result it all closed. Whatever was left was not good or hospitable or neither healthy anymore. So it was really time to go. We figured we would have to become commuters and get out of Zhoucun. And with determination in mind we researched for two entire months. Then we decided for Clifford Estates, in Panyu District, Guangzhou. The infrastructure was better compared to the others we have looked. The payment conditions looked possible and the apartment was quite OK for what we had in mind. |
